Are you ready to shift paradigms big time? Huh? This Disney movie will heal you NOW!
Beauty and the Beast explains (in the simplest way I’ve ever seen) how trauma healing works.
Belle feels bored and incomplete and has a very strong sense that THERE MUST BE MORE OUT THERE. Every single spiritual awakening begins like that.
Belle’s father (the person she loves the most in this world) tries a new path and ends up imprisoned in an obscure castle. Belle finds him and, out of love, exchanges her being held hostage for her father’s freedom.
Later she bravely explores the castle where she’ll be stuck for the rest of her life and discovers that, surprisingly, it’s not as scary as it seems. Where before there was only darkness, now there seemed to be light, life, and positive things.
She learns the Beast isn’t so evil. He simply suffers from loneliness and shame.
Belle mingles with darkness and gets to deeply know the shades in detail. She reintroduces Beast to the light taking him outside to feed the birds and play in the snow.
Beast offers Belle new experiences she would never have had she stayed in her village; if her father hadn’t risked a new path. He expands her horizons and introduces her to a huge amount of other (new) possibilities, proving her inner world is infinite.
Belle (light) and Beast (darkness) fall in love profoundly because they undress their souls to each other taking off their masks (intimacy). Belle is then set free teaching us that everything that’s free tends to come back to places where they’re allowed this freedom because it’s a sign of unconditional love.
Seeing her return and reciprocate the love, Beast becomes light as well as everything else that’s been kept in the dark for so long, because Belle no longer fears it. All the opposite, she now loves every inch of her darkness.
Where before there was only obscurity, now there was only love.
That’s how conscious and unconscious, light and dark reintegrate.
The movie explains the process of trauma healing so perfectly that I don’t even know what to say! Even the songs, colors, and words, explain it the easiest way! Not sure this was the intention, but that’s what it turned out to be!
In a nutshell:
You run after a part of you that’s been gone. On the way you meet obscurity and get stuck there until you fall in love with it. You then start feeling a greater sense of belonging to the new world and a need to separate from the old world because darkness feels so familiar.
Remember you traded places with the piece of you who got in trouble in the first place? This piece is still in your old world so you must pick it up. Arriving back you suffer severe retaliation from every character who didn’t participate in your transformation. War happens and you win it using wisdom. During this war, you’re willing to die for your shadows.
That’s when everything stops. Silence comes in. Pain disappears. Darkness dies and you’re reborn as an extremely enlightened being, too big for the tiny place you occupied before. You have your own world now, and don’t depend on anyone else to shine.
Our biggest trauma is always connected to our Soul’s most sacred part. The one we love the most.
Healing trauma is the biggest gift you could ever give yourself and humanity. I hope this post helps and inspires you to start the process. If you feel called, take a look at my healing sessions created to help in this process and make it an unforgettable moment.
